The S-Gallery, a Korean-American-run art space in Los Angeles under the nonprofit Swansea Development Corporation, will host an exhibition featuring 13 invited American artists from June 8th to June 29th.

The S-Gallery, run by an architect and art curator Ms. Keely Hahn, has five separate exhibition halls totaling 6,000 square feet, and this invitational exhibition takes full advantage of its facilities, with three solo and two group exhibitions running concurrently.

This exhibition is curated by Ms. Heeseon Choi and is organized as follows.
#1: “VORTEX” is presented by Alexandra Wiesenfeld.
#2: “A Risky Business Too” is presented by 8 artists: Alexandra Grant, Ali Smith, Chris Trueman, Heather Brown, Nick Aguayo, Sharon Barnes, Tomory Dodge, and William Bradley.
#3: “Landscapes and Objects of Disquieting Events” is presented by 2 artists: David Leapman and Jenny Hager.
#4: “In Search of Further Shores” is presented by Max Presneill.
#5: “Timeline” is presented by Carlos Beltran Arechiga.

Alexandra Weisenfield believes that art has the infinite power to change our perception of value. Her work is about the interaction between humans and nature and the importance of nature. She also believes that the landscape, where the forces of man and nature seem to collide, is a struggle between us and our inner selves, and she uses intense colors and primitive brushstrokes to tell the stories she wants to tell on canvas.

In this exhibition, Carlos Beltran Arechiga presents a sequence of works from 2018 to 2024, which he considers to be an artistic category of existential ambiguity, reflecting on and questioning the fundamental aspects of life, such as one's existence, purpose, and the reality one faces. The artist's world is reflected in his works, where the conceptual and the abstract are in a state of flux.

Max Presneill believes that the canvas is a complex space where various stories and events in reality take place. He expresses the events that are happening simultaneously in our daily reality in his own voice using specific icons and symbols, and continues to ask himself self-reflective questions. He aims to communicate and inform the viewer about political and social issues through vibrant colors and icons.

"The opening event will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm, Saturday, June 8th at 5151 Romaine St., Los Angeles, CA 90029. At the event, you will have the delightful opportunity to interact with participating artists, sharing stories about their works," said Ms. Heeseon Choi, curator of the exhibition. "The S-Gallery aims to broaden the scope of exhibition viewing by introducing a diverse range of artworks, including those by Korean and Korean-American artists, alongside American artists, following this exhibition," she added.

Visits to the exhibit hall after the opening event must be scheduled in advance. For inquiries and reservations, please email s-gallery@4swansea.org.
