우리는 예수님의 오심을 요한복음 1장 14절에서 말씀이 육신이 되어(the word became flesh)라는 성경구절에서 예수가 인간의 모습을 입고 나타남을 보게 된다. 여기엔 성령(Holy Ghost)과 마귀(satan)가 나타난다. 성령에게 이끌림으로 광야에 가서 40일 동안 마귀의 시험을 받았다. 이끌린다는 말은 수동태(passive voice)이다. 즉 예수의 자체 활동이 아니고 성령이 같이 했다는 것이다. 마귀는 예수를 시험했는데 마귀의 유혹을 성령이 같이 함으로 과감하게 물리치셨다.
출애급기 34장 28절을 보면 그는 먹지도 않고 마시지도 않았으나(and he was there with the Lord forty days and nights; he neither eat bread, no drink water.)라고 기록되어 있다. 그리고 10계명(the ten ommandment)을 돌 위에 새겨 놓았다고 한다(He wrote upon the tables, the words of covenant.) 우리가 세상의 유혹을 이기는 방법을 예수님께로부터 배운 것을 참으로 감사해야겠다. 희망을 걸고 하나님 곁에 다가가면 해결의 실마리를 주시리라.
“And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. And the devil said unto him, if
thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. and Jesus answered him, saying, it is written, that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.”[Luke 4:1-4]
“예수께서 성령의 충만함을 입어 요단강에서 돌아 오사 광야에서 사십일 동안 성령에게 이끌리시며, 마귀에게 시험을 받으시더라. 이 모든 날에 아무 것도 잡수지지 아니하시니 날 수가 다하매 주리신지라. 3. 마귀가 가로되 네가 만일 하나님의 아들이어든 이 돌들에게 명하여 떡덩이가 되게 하라. 4. 예수께서 대답하시되 기록하기를 사람이 떡으로만 살 것이 아니라 하나님의 말씀으로 살아야 하느니라 하였느니라.”[누가복음 4:1-4]
■Structure & Vocabulary
*And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan=Jesus who had been filled with the Holy Spirit returned from Jordan. *and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,=귀신(마귀)에게 이끌리어 광야로 인도를 받았다. *Spirit에서 S를 대문자로 쓸 경우엔 성령(Holy Spirit)이고 소문자(spirit)는 귀신이나 마귀를 가리킨다.
*Being forty days tempted=As he was tempted(of the devil) 악마의 유혹을 받았다. *devil=in theology, the personal supreme spirit of evil and wickedness.(사악, 악한 것) 2. a. lesser civil or malignment spirit. 3. a human friend. 인간적인 것. a wretched 악마. *in those days. 그 날 동안 식음을 전폐 했다. *and when they were ended, he afterward hungered=They were ended after that he became hungry. *If thou be the Son of God=If you are the Son of God=네가 하나님의 아들이어든. *command= v.t. 1. to direct authority; charge, enjoin. 2. to have at command; have command over; have under control or at disposal(처분, 처리, 양도). 3. to dominate(지배하다) 우뚝 솟아 있다.
