As of June 24th, 2022, the Supreme Court of the United States has overturned Roe v. Wade. This court case essentially gave protection and the right for women to have an abortion. However, what does this mean?
This means that now, the state governments get to choose whether or not abortion is legalized within their state. Though, this will not stop abortions. It will just create more unsafe abortions, which lead to the mother being put in higher risk of danger as well.
The overturn of Roe v. Wade has sparked protests around the nation. New York City has had a widespread protests to fight for abortion rights.
Frightened women and young girls all over the world are now having to fight for reproductive rights and the ability to be able to choose for their own body, whether or not they choose to have a baby or not.
Social media has also shown many places around the country who have been fighting for women to have the right and protection of having an abortion.
Overturning Roe v. Wade is just going to lead more women to be in danger when in the case of needing an abortion.
Many don’t have the money to afford getting an abortion in states that legalize it. This will lead them to try and have an unsafe one, putting their life in danger.
The court case of Roe v. Wade being overturned now takes the United States back about 50 years in history. Instead of going forward, the nation is now going backward.
However, the Supreme Court will not stop here. This is why protests, online surveys, petitions, donations, etc. all have to be done so history is not going backwards.
Whether a woman chooses to become a mother to a child or not is their choice. In the end, they are the ones who have to take care of another human being financially, mentally, physically, etc. It genuinely is not anyone else’s choice if a woman has to become a mother. No one should have a say in these types of situations, besides the woman herself.
