Joseph Shin, Scoutmaster of ‘Troop 777,’ the official scout troop of the Young Korean Academy (Heung Sa Dahn) founded by Dosan Ahn Chang-ho, was awarded the prestigious ‘Silver Beaver’ award by ‘Greater LA Scouting’ on the 26th.

Affiliated with ‘Scouting America’ (formerly known as the Boy Scouts), this organization oversees the LA region and annually honors the most dedicated adult volunteers with this award. Among the nine recipients this year, Joseph Shin of Troop 777 was the only scoutmaster selected from a Korean-American troop.

Meanwhile, ‘Troop 777’ is the official scout troop of the Heung Sa Dahn, established by Dosan Ahn Chang-ho, and boasts a 30-year history. Comprising primarily second-generation Korean-Americans, the troop welcomes both male and female members aged 8 and older. Through various outdoor activities, it fosters physical strength and mental resilience while also providing education on confidence and Korean identity within American society.
