Workers at Amazon, the world’s largest e-commerce company, have launched a strike demanding improved labor conditions. Starting December 19, a coalition of truck drivers and warehouse workers from the Teamsters union—comprising 10,000 members across seven states, including California, New York, and Georgia—walked off the job.
The workers are seeking wage increases and safer working environments. This strike, the largest in Amazon’s history, is strategically timed ahead of the critical holiday shopping season to pressure the company into negotiations.
On December 20, union members held a protest in Queens, New York, urging Amazon to address their demands.
