CJ Bibigo Halts Sales of Select Dumplings Due to Plastic Contamination
The South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) announced today that it has ordered a recall and sales suspension of certain CJ Bibigo dumpling products after confirming plastic contamination in some items.

The affected product is CJ Bibigo’s “Rich Kimchi Dumplings” in 400g packages with an expiration date of June 23, 2025.

The MFDS has advised consumers who purchased the affected products to discontinue consumption immediately and return them to their point of purchase for a refund.

CJ CheilJedang, the manufacturer, stated, “We are voluntarily conducting the recall with consumer safety as our top priority,” adding that they “will strengthen quality control measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.”

The situation has raised concerns in the United States, where CJ Bibigo products are widely distributed through Korean markets and mainstream retailers like Trader Joe’s. The potential impact could be significant if the affected products were exported to the U.S. market.

Multiple attempts to reach CJ Foods America for comment have been unsuccessful. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available regarding whether the contaminated products were distributed in the U.S. market.

The recall serves as a reminder of the importance of food safety and quality control in international food distribution networks. Consumers are advised to check their purchased products and stay informed about any updates regarding this recall.
