▶ “Over 10,000 unregistered Korean voters could boost political influence”
As the upcoming November 5th Presidential and local elections approach, Korean organizations in the Los Angeles area have launched a massive voter registration and participation campaign to strengthen Korean political influence and "vote power."
At a press conference on the 9th at the LA Korean Community Center, key figures such as LA Korean Chamber of Commerce President Jung Dong-wan, LA Korean Association Senior Vice President Steve Kang, Korean Youth Center External Relations Director Ji-young Lim, and others announced the joint campaign. They urged as many Korean Americans as possible to register and vote, emphasizing the importance of demonstrating the Korean community's civic engagement to the broader society.
The registration deadline is October 21st, and starting October 12th, campaign booths will be set up at Korea Town Plaza to assist with voter registration and provide information on absentee and in-person voting.
According to Political Data Inc. (PDI), as of October 9th, there were 96,619 registered Korean voters in LA County, with an estimated 10,000 or more eligible but unregistered Korean voters. Jung Dong-wan stressed that registering and voting is vital for future generations, calling on the Korean community to take action.
As the election nears, LA is heating up with the installation of voting centers, including mobile stations at Korea Town Plaza and the LA Korean Community Center, set for late October and early November.
