Ahead of the Chuseok holiday on September 17, Korean banks in Southern California have begun offering free remittance services to Korea and other overseas destinations. This service is popular because it allows customers to save $30 to $40 per transaction on remittance fees. Korean banks provide free remittance services annually before Chuseok and Lunar New Year. However, free remittance is limited to personal transfers.
