The Brexit situation brings more conflict between Britain and the European Union, without them being able to find a satisfactory middle-term to part from each other. Brexit refers to Britain‘s departure from the European Union, a union composed of 28 European countries for economic and political benefits. Why would Britain want to leave? The referendum on June 23, 2016 resulted in 52% of the votes in favor of leaving the Union because of British people wanting to have full control over their own policies. That means having independent decision making for the country and border control. Although the vote was held in 2016, Brexit is still in progress because of delays when it was supposed to have happened on March 29, 2019.
Theresa May was the previous Prime Minister who began the Brexit process through Article 50, and this process has now currently been taken over by Boris Johnson, the new Prime Minister. The original plan was for Brexit to leave the European Union with a deal agreed between both sides, but these deals have been rejected by Parliament 3 times already. The reason for rejection is the backstop, a part of the deal meant to keep the border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland as open as it is now for trade, and this leads all the decision making over that border to be controlled by the European Union. Because of all this, Boris Johnson is declaring a new bold plan: to leave with no deal if necessary.
There are predicted negative consequences for Britain, in case Brexit were to happen with the no-deal policy. The quantity of supplies can be reduced, like medicine. To be more exact, it would slow down the transportation of all these supplies, but it still means there would be less supplies for the meantime. A lower number of perishable foods as well, like meat, because of the increased transportation time. With less supplies, it is possible for an increase in price for these products. British citizens may also suffer from travelling to countries in the European Union as they will constantly need a passport and to be checked, as compared to now where this control is not necessary.
