Golden Globes recently passed and I think this year female celebrities have worn some insane dresses that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. From different shades to different styles and textures, a lot of variations were shown. I like the blue dress that Gemma Chan wore the best.

Gemma Chan’s Valentino and Christian Louboutin is an interesting choice to pick for events like the Golden Globes, as shorts traditionally aren’t supposed to be considered to red carpet style. However, Gemma Chan proved to everyone that it could be. According to BAZAAR, Gemma Chan wore a neck dress that opened at her waist, which reveals her shorts. This is honestly very hard to pull off because it’s very hard for a dress and shorts to look good in one outfit. However, the dress covered the shorts and because it looks like the shorts were a part of the dress, it looked well pull together.

Another detail that made the dress unique was that the way it twisted; the top half of the dress was around the neck area mostly, and the bottom half trailing. The front was simple but on the back, there was a bow tie. This contrast helps the dress look more interesting. The dress has a lot of detail but still look put-together, for the neck area to the waist is kind of wrinkly, then all the way to the bottom is more relaxed but still have that texture. Overall, her dress stood out for the crowd.

I think the other reason that makes her outfit a complete success is how little she accessorised and the simplicity of her shoes. The base color of her earrings is greyish white, and some crystal gems added to the touch. Grey and blue are two colors that are can turn into each other on a color circle so it comes together in one outfit. Her shoes are the same color as the dress but a different fuzzy-like texture, that when they are facing the light it shines. This small detail upgrades the outfit. A standout outfit always has details that mix everything else into one look. It’s really hard to have that sometimes especially at big events like the Golden Globes, but Gemma Chan pulled it off perfectly.
