It is without a doubt that everyone has their special preference regarding favorite music and musicians. However, no matter what type of music taste you have, it wouldn’t bother you to have some insight on the celebrated music record label, Monstercat. It would at the very least be a great addition to your music knowledge if it doesn’t just overturn your understanding of what music should be like completely. This music label does not only produce insane songs but also dedicate to continually nurturing new musical geniuses and pushing aspiring young artists/music producers onto the worldly stage.
According to the official statistics on the Monstercat website, the current subscribers of “Monstercat: Uncaged” YouTube channel is a whopping 6.8 million with the total views of two billion! It also has an estimated amount of 1.8 million listens per day on Spotify; it almost reaches 1 million subscribers on Soundcloud; as well as 745k of followers on Twitch; 938k likes on Facebook and 329k followers on Twitter! Not to mention the amount of stunning and influential music festivals it has thrown in various countries over the years, which makes its future even more prosperous and brighter. Although it is not yet the biggest music record up to date, it is certainly one of the most reputable labels out there.
So what exactly is Monstercat? In short, it is a Canadian independent Electronic Dance Music record label created by two college students, Mike Darlington and Ari Paunonen. Through 7 years of inconsistent endeavors and progress, it has undergone many crucial evolutions that is almost impossible to list one by one altogether. It went from creating their first compilation album “Launch Week” on July 2011, to surpassing one million record sales across the label in July 2014, to announcing their own TV channel on Pluto TV in that same year, to receiving multiple awards such as “Best Independent Dance Label,” “Label Of The Year” and “Best breakthrough label” respectively by organizations Billboard, Dancing Astronaut and DJ Mag in the year of 2017. Right now, it has released over 30 compilation albums and an innumerable amount of EPs, and none of them have yet failed to entertain the vast Monstercat lovers.
No matter if you have never been a fan of Electronic music before, no matter how much you disgust EDM in general. Never forget that it’s about the emotions and the feelings Monstercat has been always trying to deliver; it’s about the effort and passion the talented artists have put into their music; it’s about the soul of the music itself, not only the auditory stimulation it gives to you in a transient few minutes.
