Recently, the United States was ablaze with news of its new president. Every media source was going crazy, each one scrambling to report the littlest facts about Donald Trump, his economic status, and more.
And while America was buzzing about the inauguration of the 45th president, the nation of Korea was also going through the most historical event in their lives. Talks about the resignation of the current president were being made. The most recent president of Korea, Park Geun-Hye, was a public favorite at the time she was elected. Reason being, her background as a former president’s daughter and shockingly, a woman. Which was a revolutionary thing on its own.
However, her term wasn’t so smooth. With the combination of a sudden virus strike, tragic events, and inappropriate peace treaties, her inability to rule the nation was revealed.
With the build-up of these events, Korean citizens would constantly protest and express their furies from anywhere on the streets of Korea to the president’s Facebook page. And with the nation’s tension reaching its ultimate high, Park Geun-Hye has finally been impeached, ending her term on March 9, 2017. A date remaining as the most historical date for all of Korea.
And right after her impeachment, to the whole world’s surprise, there were nightlong celebrations for the event. Which sounds pretty bizarre, but after learning about her wrongdoings, it isn’t too surprising why the people were so furious. Adding on, many famous Korean celebrities also expressed their consent and relief towards the president’s impeachment.
Surely, March 9th will remain the most infamous and historical date ever.
