Ninety years ago, during the decade of the 1920’s, the First World War was over and the United States was in the midst of what became known as the ‘Roaring Twenties’. It was duringthis time period in America that our school first opened its doors, which began a long and proud legacy of providing quality public education to the Hancock community of Los Angeles.
Over the years, many graduates went on to enjoy successful careers in medicine, education, law, business, engineering, politics, and a host of other noble professions. We are proud of the history of Third Street School and know that the Class of 2014 will continue the long and proud tradition of hard work, citizenship, and community involvement.
We are especially proud of our Class of 2014 and wish you continue success as you enter into the next phase of your education. We applaud all of our students and know that you will take with you the valuable experiences, knowledge gained, and lessons learned here.
The dedication and positive spirit on the part of our entire school community has successfullytranscended into the 21st century. In the year 2014 we continue to espouse a strong appreciation for ethnic and cultural diversity.
We are particularly proud of the parents, grandparents, and the extended families of our students; without their continued support and guidance, our students would not have had the opportunity to accomplish so much during your years.
We owe a special debt of gratitude for our teachers and the entire school staff for instillingin our students a deep respect for others, regardless of race, creed or religion. Just as the Third Street School did 90 years ago, during the ‘Roaring Twenties’, our faculty continues to teach our students to appreciate such important values as equal opportunity, freedom, democracy, and prosperity through diligence and hard work.
To the Class of 2014, you will always be in our hearts and know that you will never forget our school. We know that your positive attitude toward learning and your strong spirit and confidencewill continue to grow and prosper.
In closing I would like to say to the Class of 2014 that we are extremely proud of each and every one of you and wish you a hearty CONGRATULATIONS& GODSPEED as you turn the page to the next chapter in your lives and move forward in your education.
