가장 알찬 방학은 역시‘독서’

여름방학을 가장 알차게 보내는 방법 중 하나가 독서라고 많은 교육자들이 입을 모은다. SAT 점수를 높이는 것도 힘들게 학원에 다니기보다 한가하게 소파에 누워 책을 읽는 습관이 더 효과적일 수 있다. 방학동안 저학년 학생들은 자신의 흥미와 일치하는 책들을 통해 독서를 즐기는 습관을 길러주는 것이 중요하지만 대학에 갈 학생이라면 고전도서들도 읽어보는 것이 바람직하다. SAT시험 주관처인 칼리지보드는 대학을 진학할 계획인 고등학생들을 위해 ‘위대한 도서 101선’을 다음과 같이 추천하고 있다. 이 가운데 취향에 맞는 책을 선택하기 위해 영어교사, 도서관 사서, 카운슬러 등의 조언을 받을 수 있다. 칼리지보드가 선정한 101권 추천도서 목록을 2차례로 나누어 소개한다.
